Book Your Air Quality Assessment

If you’re concerned about the air quality on your premises, or you simply want to make sure your air quality is clean for visitors, an internal air quality assessment is the perfect way to keep your building safe.

What Is An Internal Air Quality Assessment?

Simply expressed, ‘air quality’ is the term we use to indicate the level of air pollution present in a particular area - crucial information to note. People can be at risk from breathing polluted air because it can irritate their eyes, inflame their airways, and harm their respiratory systems including the lungs, and this is just for starters. How do we determine this issue to reverse these effects? An Internal Air Quality Assessment establishes the baseline air quality within your premises to determine any pollutants and is now a requirement under the HSA Code of Practice for Indoor Air Quality (May 23) including Proactive Real-Time Air Quality Monitoring.

From the very beginning, we can help protect the health of your building, employees and visitors with bespoke solutions for your working environment. We can recommend products, services and self-management solutions to ensure the air you breathe is of the highest quality possible. The Internal Air Quality Assessment, or IAQA, includes a thorough inspection of your property to determine its layout, causes, and solutions, clearly explaining the current Air Quality situation as well as why and how it can be addressed with both immediate and long-term actions. It's a report that will put you in charge of your air quality problem and let you decide how much improvement to make depending on the risk factor – low, medium or high, with a suitable bespoke action plan provided. What's more, we will help you every step of the way with bespoke solutions, training, advice and ongoing services. Take back control and prioritise safety today.

Why Have An Air Quality Assessment?

Clean air is a basic necessity for a healthy environment. Whether we are going about our daily activities or working, clean air is a basic requirement for any premises. The World Health Organisation and the UK Government recognise that air pollution is one of the most significant environmental health risks we face today.

Here at Ultra Protect, we provide internal air quality assessments so that you can keep your employees, visitors and yourself safe. With gas detection and air quality solutions, we are committed to ensuring that your building stays safe, keeping your employees and visitors safe at all times. Contact us today to learn more about our services.

This is why the HSA Code of Practice for Indoor Air Quality was introduced during May 23.

Similar to a Fire Risk Assessment, the Internal Air Quality Assessment is required for all employers to take control of their Air Quality issues. First of all, to create visibility, then provide an Action Plan, and then work on solutions based on the risk factor.

Poor Air Quality is responsible for 36,000 deaths a year in the UK and negatively impacts the health of the 12.7million people who live with long-standing respiratory conditions. It also costs many companies money due to sick days, slower production and slower employee response times and is a major contributor to the drain of our NHS budgets.

  • Internal Air Quality Assessment

We can attend your premises to provide an Internal Air Quality Assessment, (IAQA) which includes a full or part-building report, Air Quality Monitoring test reports on various parameters including carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, volatile organic compound, formaldehyde, humidity, room temperature, ozone, dust and air conditioning, microbiological identification, including mould and damp, as well as beneficial reports on VOC emissions, existing ducted ventilation systems, extractor fans, heat recovery systems, and natural airflow. This is without mentioning reports on emission levels, odour sources and the immediate external air quality.

What Are The Legal Requirements?

Employers have a duty of care to maintain a safe and healthy work environment, stressed within the existing Health & Safety at Work Act of 1974, as well as the Occupiers Liability Act of 1984. The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations' Approved Code of Practice specifies that the quality of the air inside your facility should be at least as good as, if not better than, the air outside.

Sadly, this is rarely the case because indoor air quality, particularly in our crowded cities and business and industrial buildings, is typically between 5 and 50 times worse than outside air quality.

With the latest HSA Code of Practice for Indoor Air Quality, (May 2023) update, we’re well-equipped to help you comply with such legislation, so contact us with any questions, or to book a survey.
